Back in May, the renowned Harvey Ag College hosted its annual Open Day, welcoming friends, family, and the wider community to celebrate the skills and passion of its students.

While the shearing shed was in full swing, our WA Industry Relations Officer, Tennille Norrish, caught up with Stephen Adams, Technical Officer of the Sheep section, to chat about what makes their program so valuable.

It’s fantastic to see the next generation of our industry in action, with passionate mentors helping open doors to a career in sheep and wool.

Engaging the next generation is key in ensuring the future of our industry. AWI’s education initiative, Learn About Wool does just that.

Designed for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, Learn About Wool offers a suite of curriculum-aligned resources that explore the natural benefits of Australian wool.

Through lesson plans, fact sheets and videos, students are introduced to the entire wool supply chain, from on-farm production to fibre properties, processing and final product.

Australian schools can also request a free resource kit including real fibre, yarn and fabric samples, factsheets and posters to assist hands on learning.
