@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights Decoturf came closest at us open pre-pandemic. Heavy angular sand in the deep layers. A lighter rounded sand at top. Their type of acrylic worked well for this. So did the NYC climate in late summer w/ Wilson ball felt. It was the closest to a variable court for all styles.

@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights Btw, there’s a whole history behind court speed. For over 100 yrs the racquet, ball tech was shoddy. But always improving. When the racquet + ball tech exploded the game got fast. Then Sampras’ 2 shot rallies hurt viewership. That means money. Ever since there’s been an effort

@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights I truly think the tennis world is trying to find a fair solution. It makes sense for the money. People want to see all parts of the game played. But racquet/ string tech + off court training makes it difficult. If sanding is a little too light we will be back to 2 shot rallies.

Fed took advantage of it over Rodrick and Safin but then his brilliant shot making was screwed as the courts/balls continued to slow down. All of a sudden, vs the best defenders, it was extremely difficult to be rewarded for shot making.

@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights I literally bumped into Kyrgios at qualifying long ago. Also zverev by himself after a qualy match. My last vid was in 2019 on the potential of Sinner. I think I said he could end up winning a major.

Also I did a lot of study on upcoming players at qualies in us open. It’s fun to see some of the guys I studied close up.

@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights For gambling purposes. Day games will have more to deal with (USUALLY) than night. In semi-arid conditions, sun situation + wind big. USUALLY less volatility at night. Djoko will probably have night matches. He thrives off Consistency.

Hoping to find the time again to get caught up on all the changes in surface/ball tech. In the meantime I guess everyone will blast their ways thru the #s desperately trying to catch a clue. 🙂

@marramirem5 @Gill_Gross @tennis_insights Sounds like that attempt may have backfired and could cause more problems. Are they still using Penn ball? I have no clue about the ball changes but I’m sure with all the felt and rubber tech that would be part of it as well.
