Happy #Thanksgiving from your friends at Tennyson Center for Children! We’re grateful for YOU because it's your support that ensures all kids have a place to heal from trauma. To show her appreciation, a child in our elementary classroom (Room 101) made this thank you card!
Today is the 1st day of school for our K-12 students! Many of these kids put in twice the work of their peers because they're learning to cope with trauma while also focusing on academics. Retweet to show that their community is behind them! #BackToSchool#YouthMentalHealth
Kids in our summer school program have made priceless memories on field trips to Sweet Cow Ice Cream, @DenverZoo, and more. Where should they go next?!
Many children served by Tennyson don’t have the opportunity for fun outings like this recent day at @meowwolf, but thanks to supporters like you, they’re getting to be kids this summer. What was your favorite place to visit as a kid on #summer break?
We welcomed 64 NEW DONORS last month. Let that sink in...kids in CO have 64 more people looking out for them! You're connecting these kids to #therapy, feeding them lunch and breakfast, ensuring they have the best teachers, and creating a place where they feel safe 🧡
89% of families supported through our Rewiring work did not result in a substantiated child welfare assessment. By shifting dollars to lower-cost prevention, Rewiring is reaching families earlier with new services that keep them out of the #childwelfare system!

Young people healing from abuse are often cut off from essential services when they turn 18. If you're a teenager without a stable family, that means losing some of the only support systems you've ever known. #MentalHealthAwareness#ChilDWelfare#healing
That’s how overwhelmed the system is right now. At Tennyson, we’re doing everything we can to keep kids here in Colorado with the families who love and support them.
After years of abuse, Olivia was hospitalized almost every week for mental health emergencies. Our therapists spent 14 hours a week with Olivia until hospitalizations became rare. Now, she is spending less time with us and more time with her friends! #childwelfare#Mentalhealth
Gabby was in and out of the foster care system so she never had the chance to build an identity. She never learned about her African-American culture or how it could be empowering to be a Black Woman in America. So by the time she arrived here, she struggled with low self-esteem.
Some of our greatest presidents overcame childhood trauma, adversity, and mental illnesses. Lincoln himself struggled with suicidal depression. Let’s make sure every child has the right support to realize their full potential! #PresidentsDay#Mentalhealth
A stressful environment can leave a permanent imprint on developing brains. We can’t fix every problem in the world, but we can prevent so many future heartaches by giving every child strong and nurturing relationships.
90% of the kids we supported didn’t need a hospital or crisis center last year. That’s incredible considering hospitals reported a surge of kids needing emergency mental health care. Together, we are keeping our state’s most vulnerable kids safe and hopeful for the future.
Anthony's mom had to choose between him and his abusive stepdad. She chose his stepdad. He's now with loving family members, and thanks to Tennyson supporters, a certified clinician is helping Anthony rebuild trust with the grownups in his life.
