PUBLIC ALERT | STAY VIGILANT, STAY SAFE

Continuous rainfall across Tawang district over the past several days has considerably increased the risk of landslides, mudslides, waterlogging and blockage of natural watercourses, particularly in vulnerable locations.

Keeping in view the potential threat from mudslides along the downstream areas of Bomdir Nallah, the District Administration Tawang has been continuously issuing precautionary advisories to residents living near streams, nallahs, low-lying areas and landslide-prone slopes.

As part of the precautionary measures, a joint team led by Assistant Commissioner @TenzinJambey4 , along with DDMO Tawang @TsomuGenden and representatives of Tawang Brigade, @GajrajCorps_IA Army, surveyed the Mhenkhar and Bhuip areas towards PTSO yesterday, where large-scale landslide activity has been observed.

The situation demands caution. Continued movement of mud and debris may block natural watercourses, potentially causing sudden accumulation of water and posing a serious threat to downstream areas if the blockage breaches or further slope failure occurs.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner, Kyidphel, Sange Norbu has been continuously alerting villagers and sharing precautionary information through WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

PUBLIC ADVISORY

Residents are strongly advised to:
• Stay away from swollen streams, nallahs and unstable slopes.
• Avoid unnecessary travel through landslide-prone stretches.
• Never attempt to cross overflowing or rapidly flowing watercourses.
• Remain watchful for sudden rise or fall in water levels, unusual blockage of streams, movement of debris or cracks/slope instability.
• Immediately report any such warning signs to the local administration.

Please do not ignore official advisories or take unnecessary risks. A few moments of caution can prevent a tragedy.

Stay alert, follow verified official information and cooperate with the District Administration and disaster management authorities for your safety and the safety of the entire community.
