The reaction to the Jaiswal thing suggests podcasters/writers have three difficulties: (1) they don't read all the rules, and (2) they think that the absence of information is license to think the worst of a player. Any player. And (3) a lazy bias towards the underdog.

Neither OG nor Vassell are paid anywhere close to what Brown is paid. Plus assessment of defence is very subjective and it is not unanimously agreed upon that he is a significant positive on that end
