really miss Fnatic & NIP in 2013~2015

Seeing a post today, as shown in the image, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic for the once-unstoppable Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) and the formidable fnatic lineup often referred to as the "Cosmic Team".🫥

About a decade ago, fnatic and NiP stood as the most powerful and globally renowned Swedish rivals in Counter-Strike . NiP famously set a remarkable 87-0 map streak shortly after the game's release but were ultimately upset in the final of the DreamHack Winter 2013 Major in Jönköping by JW's fnatic.

The two Swedish teams subsequently faced each other in numerous finals thereafter . It was truly an era to remember.

Now, both organizations have moved towards international rosters and have qualified for the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major 2025. It remains to be seen whether their new international lineups can restore them to their former dominant strength.

Yesterday, TGA announced this year's nomination list. In the "Best Debut Indie Game" category, a game titled Megabonk—a rogue-like bullet hell shooter released on September 19—received a nomination. The game reached a peak concurrent player count of over 110,000.

The game developer, john megabonk, however, stated on X that the game would "withdraw from the TGA selection," as Megabonk is not actually his first game.

He said: “It's an honor and a dream for Megabonk to be nominated for TGA, but unfortunately i don't think it qualifies for the category Debut Indie Game. I've made games in the past under different studio names, so Megabonk is not my debut game.”

He added: “I really appreciate the nomination, support and votes, but it doesn't feel right in this category. you should vote for another one of the amazing debut titles, they are all amazing games! Thanks again! new megabonk update coming soon”

TGA has officially confirmed the withdrawal of Megabonk's nomination, but it remains unclear whether another game will be added as a replacement.
