82 years ago today, on June 20, 1944, the second day of the Battle of the Philippine Sea gave the US Navy one of its most famous moments.

The day before had been the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot, where American pilots shot down close to 350 Japanese planes for almost nothing in return. Now Admiral Mitscher wanted the enemy carriers themselves. The problem was distance. By the time his scouts finally found the retreating Japanese fleet late in the afternoon, it sat right at the very edge of how far his planes could fly. Launch a strike and a lot of those men would not have the fuel to get home.

He launched anyway. His pilots caught the Japanese near sunset, sank the carrier Hiyo, damaged others, and shot down still more planes. Then they turned for home in the dark, over open ocean, with their fuel gauges falling toward zero.

What happened next is the part that became legend. Mitscher knew his exhausted aviators would never find a blacked out fleet at night. So he ordered every ship to turn on its lights. In the middle of the Pacific, with enemy submarines out there somewhere, he lit up the entire task force so his men could see the decks. Planes came in dry and crashed onto carriers or splashed down all around the ships, and destroyers worked through the night hauling soaked crews out of the water. Around 80 planes were lost on that return flight, but most of the men were pulled out alive.

By the time the sun came up, Japan had lost three carriers and roughly 600 aircraft across the two days, along with the trained pilots it could never replace. Japanese naval aviation never recovered. June 20, 1944. The night an American admiral lit up his whole fleet to bring his boys home.

BREAKING: Elon Musk calls for the arrest of Ro 'the Robber' Khanna.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced that a USAID official and several executives pleaded guilty in a bribery scheme involving more than $550 million in contracts.

Yet Ro Khanna is claiming Elon should be investigated over DOGE spending cuts.

The standard applied by DOGE was very simple: if taxpayer money is being sent as aid, there should be a way to verify who received it and make sure the money isn’t being stolen or misused.

The DOJ is uncovering corruption connected to USAID contracts, Ro Khanna is attacking the person who pushed for transparency.

Elon simply asked where taxpayer money was going and whether it was actually reaching the people it was meant to help.

And then came the line that many supporters said they would never forget:
