Why did the BBC say “questioned” rather than “interviewed”?
The answer is that the BBC launders Israel’s genocide, and does so to the point that they'll frame an interview with an anti-Zionist Jewish politician like it's a police interrogation.
BBC's Laura Kuenssberg spends the entire interview with Zack Polanski implying that the only Jewish leader of a major UK party is antisemitic.
That's the nadir of political debate we've finally arrived at – all to protect Israel's genocide.
@ianwebb70sdey This historical illiteracy is gobsmacking – and so common.
Hamas was created in 1988.
Israel expelled 750,000 Palestinians from their homes, and their homeland, in 1948.
The story Europeans were told was this:
Russia is the threat. NATO is the shield. American military presence is the guarantee of your freedom. Your dependence on American weapons, American intelligence, American political cover. This is the price of security.
The story had a villain and a protector and a clear moral architecture.
What the story didn’t include was the Friedman analysis.
The explicit, on-record, strategic logic that says European dependence on American protection is not a regrettable necessity but a desired outcome.
That a Europe capable of handling its own security, capable of managing its own relationship with Russia, capable of making its own energy choices and its own economic arrangements, is a Europe that no longer needs Washington.
And a Europe that no longer needs Washington is the thing American grand strategy has been organized, for a century, to prevent.
The threat was never coming from the East.
The target was always the autonomy itself.
It is not enough to recognize Palestine.
Because recognition still assumes "Israel" has a right to exist as it is.
A colonial regime cannot coexist with the people it was built to erase.
So long as "Israel" is recognized, Palestine will never be free.
True justice begins not with recognition, but with un-recognition of the criminal project that calls itself a state.
Andy Burnham was busy again yesterday "Unequivocally condemning The Green Party ".Well I'd like to unequivocally condemn him for being a lying good for nothing, money grabbing, genocide denying bag of hot air. He's once again another bad as it gets Prime Minister. Servant of Israel!
America has no moral crisis over Gaza.
It has a public relations crisis.
It’s not struggling to reconcile values.
It’s struggling to manage optics.
There is no contradiction in funding genocide while preaching democracy.
That’s the brand.
That’s the model.
That’s the American way: burn one village to sell weapons to the next, then call it "stability."
Palestine has been a cause for nearly eighty years
Eighty years of speeches. Of resolutions. Of summits. Of the specific, practiced, generationally refined art of expressing outrage while changing nothing.
In those eighty years, the Palestinian territory has shrunk.
The settlements have expanded.
The siege has tightened.
The population has been fragmented across Gaza, the West Bank, refugee camps, and diaspora, separated, controlled, documented as a problem to be managed rather than a people to be freed.
All of this happened while the solidarity was being expressed.
This is not an argument that the solidarity was hypocritical in every heart that felt it.
It is an argument that solidarity which produces no material change is, whatever its emotional authenticity, functionally indistinguishable from complicity.
The outcome is the same.
The child in Gaza cannot tell the difference between a government that wanted them to suffer and a government that was sad about it while doing nothing.
The suffering is the same.
All these US wars and bombings were done either to “keep us safe”, to “save democracy”, and to “fight terrorism”.
In reality, they made us unsafer, destroyed democracies, and promoted terrorism.
Isn’t it about time to refuse to comply, and to ban and boycott our leaders until they close down forward military bases and genuinely pursue peace through talks.
FLASH: ZELENSKY WIL DAT DE WERELD "RUSLAND VERNIETIGT".
33 doden na een golf Russische luchtaanvallen. Tragisch.
Over the past 20 years, Palestinian, UN and Israeli NGO data (B'Tselem, DCIP, Yesh Din) record several thousand Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces, with over 20,000 of those in Gaza since Oct 2023 plus hundreds in the West Bank.
Yesh Din analysis of military justice data shows indictment rates for Palestinian killings in the West Bank at roughly 0.4–1% of cases brought forward. Since 2023, zero indictments for such killings (including children) have been reported. Gaza combat cases yield even fewer prosecutions.
NEVER FORGET:
This is what they don’t show you on the news. A soldier standing knee-deep in stolen treasure, gold that belonged to Iraq, not to America, not to anyone else. They told the world lies about weapons of mass destruction. They spoke of freedom and democracy. But this image tells the real truth: the illegal invasion of Iraq was never about safety. It was about plunder. It was about theft. It was about serving foreign interests ,their own, and those who pull their strings, while millions of Iraqis paid with their blood. And the man who exposed it all? Julian Assange, locked away, punished, silenced, for telling the truth. 🇮🇶..

Every so-called "terrorist" in the Global South was born in the rubble of a U.S. operation.
The planes flew.
The bombs dropped.
The orphans grew up.
And then Washington asked, "Why do they hate us?"
They will tell you Islam has a violence problem.
They will tell you this with a straight face in a civilization that invented the atomic bomb, used it on civilian cities twice, built enough nuclear warheads to end human life on earth seventeen times over, and has been in a continuous state of military conflict somewhere on the planet for the entirety of the modern era.
The violence problem argument requires a very specific form of selective vision.
It requires you to see the violence of the powerless as ideology and the violence of the powerful as policy.
It requires you to see a man with a knife as a cultural symptom and a man with an aircraft carrier as a strategic asset.
It requires you to read the Quran for verses that justify violence and to not read the history of Western colonialism for the same.
That selective vision was not an accident.
It was curated.
By the people who needed the threat to come from somewhere else.
@HarleyShah "EYE-ran" yes, by doing that, they sound like......Americans.
I think it's an American thing, there are quite a few other examples that only they seem to do.
Having said that, I suppose there's no such thing as "correct" pronunciation, it's more a case of what's the most used.
