@JeffBoChicago@GeorgeTakei Nonsense. Direct, probing questions and aggressive follow up questions are asked by both prosecutors AND defense attorneys in open court every. single. day.
The only reason for the proposed stunning lack of transparency is so the GOP can continue to lie with impunity.
@nickovotesblue@ReallyAmerican1 File a bond revocation on Trump, too, then. Problem solved! Btw, the “he did it, tooooooo!” defense is rarely persuasive outside of preschool classrooms.
@LolosLetters@ask_aubry Yes! I have a cast iron skillet that’s been passed down thru at least 5 generations, and it’s the best skillet (and the most used) I own.
@Nemo17246097@LqLana McConnel would have tanked that nomination the same way he tanked Garland’s. Trump would have started his term with 2 SCOTUS picks, and we’d STILL have ended up in the same place.
@LeonardGMiller2@ReallyAmerican1@ladyzeke72 Neither Biden nor Harris are in any danger of the executive branch using the 25th to remove them from office, and they are the only ones who can (Congress cannot exercise that clause of the 25th). And Trump is never going to be Speaker anyway.
@LeonardGMiller2@ReallyAmerican1@ladyzeke72 Impeaching Biden would result in Harris becoming POTUS (and selecting her own VP), NOT in Trump, even if he were Speaker, becoming President.
@macros114 @benoitlabrecque@EdKrassen There’s absolutely nothing wrong with our current system. People are allowed to vote for who they want to, even if you and I think their reasons are ill-informed.
@macros114 @benoitlabrecque@EdKrassen And I know 30 and 40 year olds who are just as scattered and ill-informed. That’s not a viable reason to take away an adult citizen’s right to vote. Your argument boils down to: I don’t like the way I believe 18 year olds will vote (or who they vote for).
@darksamuseth@EdKrassen No. The essence of our government is the equality of “one man, one vote.” Deciding one group gets more than one vote, or some other group gets no vote at all flies in the face of that precept.
@Tom88206311@EdKrassen Please. The country is full of people well over the age of 50 who routinely vote without any sort of nuanced grasp of current issues; they simply vote straight ticket D or R. If they’re good to vote, so are 18 year olds.
@MericasPlumber1@EdKrassen 18 year olds have as much “skin in the game” as any other adult citizen. You can’t disenfranchise entire groups of people because you don’t agree with the way they vote. Also, your argument is the exact one used in the South to keep black people from voting.
@benoitlabrecque @macros114 @EdKrassen Excellent point. For many people, “informed enough to vote” = “will vote the way I think they should.”
We had literacy tests at one time; they were found to be unfairly administered (to keep POC from voting) and unconstitutional. The voting age is fine as it is.
@blaurent71 @deelo5533 @rnoem64@TheSouthGAJohn@StephenKing There is no legal or, for that matter, scientific consensus on when sentient human life begins. You are entitled to believe it begins at conception; you are not entitled to force that belief on others.
@PassMeTheCrown@TheSouthGAJohn@StephenKing Nope. The mandates that did exist were enacted by private businesses, as is their right. The military mandate never went into effect — SCOTUS ruled that it was unconstitutional. There were no government-imposed vaccine mandates.
@K0DK0DK0D@TheSouthGAJohn@StephenKing You mean the mandate that <checks notes> never went inti effect because SCOTUS ruled it unconstitutional? Yeah, again, no laws were ever passed that required citizens to receive the Covid vaccine. Keep swinging and missing.
@SarHandicrapper@essentiallyevey@TheSouthGAJohn@StephenKing It’s not an attempt at a flex; it’s a statement of fact. Biden overstepped his authority and NO vaccine mandates were ever instituted. Quite unlike the multiple states that passed abortion bans. The two things are not equivalent.
