Hi, @SF_EdTechGuy I am currently a freshman at Augustana University, majoring in Secondary Education and HIstory. Once I graduate, I would love to teach middle school!! #EDUC219Whiting

Lots of kids come to school with their invisible backpacks, weighted with struggles.
Stress, worry, fear, anxiety, trauma, lack of physical needs, loneliness, anger, sadness, & hopelessness can make them so heavy; too heavy for learning to happen.
Notice & love them instead.
Insecure kids are often reluctant learners. Teachers should never underestimate the value of encouraging their students… of building up their confidence.
I’ve noticed that strong teachers don’t just have high expectations for their students; they have high expectations for themselves. I think that’s one of their secrets.
