Today, I had the absolute honor and privilege of attending the inauguration of the glorious Battle of Adwa Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was a profound experience to witness the unveiling of a place that encapsulates such a monumental chapter in Ethiopian and black history as a whole! The museum stands as a testament to the valor, unity, and determination of Ethiopians who, under Emperor Menelik II, triumphed over colonial forces in 1896 (1888EC). This victory is not just a landmark in Ethiopian history; it's a cornerstone in the struggle for freedom and sovereignty across Africa and the world.

Today, we celebrated not just a museum opening, but the enduring legacy of freedom fighters who showed the world the strength of unity. As I walked through the museum, every exhibit spoke volumes about the indomitable spirit of a people who chose to stand up for their nation. In every artifact, photograph, and piece of history, the message was clear: when united, there is no force that can defeat us.

Adwa - where unity defeated colonialism, embodying the eternal flame of black victory and independence. Let's always remember, united we stand, divided we fall.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to PM Abiy for envisioning such a deserving mega memorial that befits the magnitude of Adwa’s victory. A special thanks also goes to Mayor Adanech for executing the project in an impeccable manner, after receiving the baton from the former Mayor Takele, who also deserves huge credit for his contributions.
