Spain’s Prime Minister is deeply unpopular in every poll.
His new mass-amnesty-for-migrants policy is deeply unpopular in every poll.
The policy wasn’t even hinted at in the manifesto on which he was elected.
Yet, unbelievably, he thinks he has the right to irreversibly and fundamentally alter the very make up of an ancient nation without so much as consulting the people via referendum or election.
It is hard to imagine a more imperious disregard for the people by a politician employed to serve them
@ishaantharoor US is not responsible for every death in the world that it does not throw money at, especially when its 39 trillion in debt itself. The idea the US is “responsible” for *not* giving away money is utterly absurd.
@SteveRattner The US should not be sending taxpayers money across the world in this way when it’s 39 TRILLION in debt. Pay some of your own wealth first.
@TeslaNewswire Again… nobody should be surprised by this. Europe will only approve when they’re dragged kicking and screaming by the humiliation of it working perfectly everywhere else. Too much Musk hate.
This is true. Taxing education is spiteful. It’s class warfare at the expense of children whose parents want to give them a different schooling.
People who pay for schooling pay twice - once for the state school they don’t use and once the they private school they do.
No wonder Labour’s policy has failed - it has raised little tax and increased the take up of state education. Now everyone suffers: fewer teachers with more students. Vindictive and stupid.
Chinese people are trolling Europeans by posting videos on social media showing that even their pigs have air conditioning, while many Europeans can’t because of government rules.
@brian_callaci Why do you say that like it’s an either/or?! Climate change requires people to adapt. It’s the stubborn refusal to adapt that they can’t get over. No matter what’s causing it.
I think the pity and mockery stems from so many Europeans (usually institutions/"experts") dismissing AC's utility. The vast majority of the debate is not over the mechanics and logistics of deployment, but whether widespread AC is in principle desirable in the first place. I think it garners so much attention from Americans (and Europeans such as myself) because it's a vivid distillation of the self-destructive "degrowth" hysteria that is so prevalent and harmful in many European policy matters. It is the same impulse that led to Germany decommissioning its nuclear capacity, and it is a substantial contributor to the broader economic challenges of the continent.
The party that called Tories "scum", leavers "Nazis", moderate Muslims "Uncle Toms", Kwasi Kwarteng "not really black", Liz Truss "a lettuce", Covid "The Johnson Variant" & Kemi Badenoch "blackface for white supremacy" is hurt because Badenoch called Phillipson "spiteful". Bless.
