@MJKelleyII Rome isn’t Jesus’ Church. It tortured, imprisoned and murdered far too many people for this to be true.
Jesus says, "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit."

New Catholic Bible
“Then Peter began to shout curses, and he swore an oath: “I do not know the man.” At that very moment, a cock crowed,”
I find it amusing that you crybabies are so small that you resort to personal attacks.
Let me educate you on some of your Church’s History.
The Roman Catholic Church’s claim of divine authority, its bulls, its tribunals, its missionary campaigns, and its long accommodation of slavery and conquest make it responsible for millions of direct and indirect deaths.
For example: Fifteenth-century papal bulls authorized Portuguese (and by extension related Spanish) conquest and perpetual enslavement of non-Christians. Catholic Religious orders owned enslaved people and the Church long regulated and accepted the system.
Approximately 1.8 Million People died during the middle passage from the trans Atlantic Slave trade. Further deaths occurred in Africa during capture and in the Americas under forced labor. All of this was sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church. Formal institutional condemnation of the slave trade came late.
Fun Fact: the Catholic university George Town was funded with proceeds from selling slaves.
Papal bulls also provided the legal-religious framework for Spanish and Portuguese claims which lead to colonial violence and indigenous death tolls in the Americas of 40-50 Million people.
Deaths resulted from direct war, massacre, forced labor (encomienda), Old World diseases and famine which added large additional numbers (millions in the most intense phases and regions).
Then there’s the institutional and ideologically driven church violence (Inquisitions, crusading wars, and Iberian forced-conversion campaigns) which are counted using church records (many of which have been lost or destroyed) and they also keep getting revised downward (I wonder why?). We don’t even need to count those.
The more probable path is continued Israeli consolidation of security control and settlement presence in the West Bank.
This will lead to formal sovereignty over settlement blocs, ongoing low-level conflicts and stalemates, no viable Palestinian state, and no expansion beyond current disputed territories.
@ptlemic@HoenirsSight@UcheMaryOkoli The wisdom of the world is earthly, natural and demonic.
Like Peter denying Christ the third time, the only reason to swear is to sepersye yourself from God.
@UcheMaryOkoli Mary mythology is the same assembly line that gave us the magic wafer, purgatory, and a man in Rome who can speak infallibly.
Once you guys start making up theology you can’t stop.
Nice try.
You can’t have it both ways.
Paul already shut the door: “No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor 3:11)
If the Church is built on Christ, it is not built on Peter.
Calling Peter “the rock” while admitting Christ is the only foundation is just soft-pedaling the same old claim.
Christ is the Rock.
Peter is a stone.
Rome still needs a throne
@TiBSgotDiBS “Therefore, my loved ones, just as you have always obeyed not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For the One working in you is God, both to will and to work for His good pleasure”
“Upon this rock” is not a papal coronation.
Paul already settled it: “No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor 3:11)
Peter was one living stone among many. Christ is the Rock.
The keys and binding/loosing were given to the apostles, not a Roman throne.
Rome built an empire on a verse and called it the church Jesus founded
Not the sane thing.
Guadalupe “serpent-crusher” claim is folk etymology, not history.
Genesis 3:15 is clear. The seed bruises the head. Mary cooperates as His mother. She does not do the crushing. The text does not say she does.
What’s hard about reading what’s actually written?
@ptlemic@UcheMaryOkoli Exactly.
The text settles it: “it shall bruise thy head… his heel.”
That’s the seed (Christ ) not the woman.
The Marian “she shall crush” claim rests on a later Latin reading that doesn’t match the Hebrew or the KJV.
@doc_gero Let them know they are treating ‘gender’ as the default and ‘sex’ as the error. That’s backwards.
Sex is the material binary. Gender was invented as a theoretical overlay.
Preferring the overlay as the only acceptable word is the ideological move, not a correction.
