If anybody could make the decision about technology in DC, I'd want it to be President Trump. Not cabinet secretaries, not the White House staff, not members of Congress, not senators, not think tanks, I would really want every decision, if he had the time, to be made by President Trump because his instincts on this are really good.

He wants America to win. He does not believe in unnecessary regulation. He doesn't have all these doomer anxieties. He listens to a broad cross-section of people. I mean, he talks to all the CEOs. He is very up to speed on all these issues.

And I spoke to this at the G20 this past week. There are great deals for local communities to be had. This is the point that I think needs to be made, the reason why local communities should embrace this is not because of some abstract concern about innovation.

They should do it when the deal is good for them, and there are good deals to be had.

We've seen that in Loudoun County, Virginia, property taxes went down by $6,000 because they're getting all this data center revenue. In Louisiana, there's a county that was able to give teachers their first bonus in years because of data center revenue.

So we're starting to see all these examples where if you make the right deal, it will lower your electricity costs because they will stand up net new power generation, they will pay for grid upgrades. It does not use an excessive amount of water, that's total fake news. We know the systems recirculate. And these data centers can be put in places where they're not bothering people.

So there is a good deal to be made there and ultimately, just one last point on this, President Trump supports local choice on this. I'm seeing all this fake news, you know, Democrats saying that the administration's trying to shove these data centers down the throats of local communities.

Not true. In the policy document that I worked on, we expressly said that data centers remain a state and local decision. So no one is forcing these local communities, but what the president is saying is, ‘Don't believe this media disinformation campaign. It can be a good deal for you if you're willing to embrace it.’”

🚨 THE MESSAGES KEEP COMING.

I just received this from someone who says they previously worked at one of America’s largest tech companies and asked me to keep their identity private.

Their allegations are extremely specific:

• Non-Indian employees were allegedly given false performance reviews or unrealistic expectations to justify firing them or blocking promotions.

• Indian employees were allegedly given preferential help during performance and leadership reviews.

• They claim 80%+ of the leadership chain within the Google Global Networking teams was Indian.

• And perhaps most seriously, they allege these practices were known by senior leadership and supported by HR.

I have NOT independently verified these allegations.

But here’s what I can’t ignore:

Different people.
Different companies.
Different parts of the tech industry.
Remarkably similar allegations.

At some point, “anecdotal” stops being an excuse not to look.

Don’t believe this person. Don’t believe me. INVESTIGATE IT.

Subpoena the records.
Audit hiring, promotions, performance ratings and terminations.
Compare the outcomes by citizenship, national origin and visa status.

Either the data disproves these allegations, or it exposes something that desperately needs to be addressed.

Here’s what’s really happening in Crown Heights, and it’s a preview of where this goes citywide.

A landlord dies. New York’s rent laws already made it illegal for him to raise rent enough to pay for major repairs, so the building falls apart. Nearly 1,000 code violations pile up across 3 buildings over a decade.

Then the city uses that neglect as leverage: a $2.2M lead-poisoning judgment forces a sheriff’s auction. No check to the family. The judgment holder credit-bids it, then flips it for $7.6M to a city-approved buyer, with a tenant union and City Hall shaping the deal from the start.

@ZohranKMamdani calls this a win for tenants.

Look closer: it’s a legal machine that turns private property into government-directed property, one distressed building at a time, using code violations, not eminent domain, so nobody has to call it a seizure.

And guess who’s on the hook to fix 88 units with a decade of deferred repairs? The city’s already been funding emergency work here for years under HPD’s Alternative Enforcement Program.

Expect taxpayers to keep paying, long after the press release fades.
This isn’t reform. It’s a template, and it starts with the buildings the state made impossible to maintain in the first place.

As Comptroller, I’ll audit what HPD has already spent on emergency repairs at these 3 buildings, and every dollar tied to ‘transfers’ like it, because the fix isn’t more government control of housing, it’s a free market that lets owners actually maintain their buildings.

I turn 50 today. This is a message to my kids but I offer it to you in case any of it rings useful.

I was born in Sri Lanka in 1976 in a country that, at the time, was about to enter a decades long civil war. My father was able to get stationed at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canada for four years in the early 80s - when some of the fighting was most severe - and which from our vantage point in Canada gave us some respite from an otherwise omnipresent conflict.

He came as a diplomat but then my father filed for refugee status after four years when his life was threatened by militants. We stayed in Canada as refugees. My dad never really landed on his feet and we grew up on welfare.

My mom stepped up. She did an incredible thing and put our family on her back and kept marching forward. Sometimes the steps were very small but she always tried to keep moving forward.

I worked at Burger King starting at 14, giving my paycheck to my mom and dad to support our family in the role that I was assigned - earn enough to pay for our bus passes because we couldn’t afford a car.

I was a loser growing up. Some friends, some good memories but mostly forgettable and lonely. I wasn’t very studious but did get my act together in my final year and got into a great university.

I immigrated to the US soon after graduating and found an opportunity. Things clicked and I have been traveling a path to find myself ever since. Only in America is this possible…

I worked hard, followed the rules, paid my taxes and stayed in California out of loyalty for the opportunities it has given me despite its dysfunction.

I found my wife here. Had my kids here. Found my tribe here.

There have been some very hard times as well - deaths, divorce, financial pain, mistakes of omission and mistakes of commission. You can’t dwell on these things - they are weights that will pull you down if you’re not careful. Learn from them. Respect them. BUT MOVE ON.

To think 50 years ago I could have ever gotten a chance to meet the people I’ve met and have had the experiences I’ve had would have been mind boggling to my parents. It’s mind boggling to me now.

We forget often and try to convince others it’s not true but America truly is the best country in the world. Everything and anything is possible here. I can testify. Be grateful to be here.

This is the only place that gives EVERYONE a chance to live a great adventure. The first 50 years have been that for me - an incredible adventure.

Notice there is nothing here about accomplishments or money. Because it doesn’t matter and it won’t matter.

You will be dust in less than 100 years from now and the decision to be remembered won’t be yours so stop sweating it. It’s not in your control.

So what is in your control?

Be kind. Have fun. Work on something meaningful to you. Find your tribe. Try to find perspective. Find an incredible partner. Have a bunch of kids. Live an adventure. Forgive your parents - they were doing the best they could even if that wasn’t what you deserved.

I will do what I can to make my next 50 years a wild ride.

That is all she did!

CAIR - a foreign-designated terrorist group - came after her for it. They ran a major pressure campaign - they demanded this mom of three and school board member delete the post, apologize, or resign.

We were not there.

They packed her school-board meeting. CAIR Maryland jihadi director Zainab Chaudry told the room Maggie’s statement was “not an apology” and demanded more from her....

This is the same Chaudry who, after Hamas’s October 7 massacre, posted that murdered Israeli babies were “fake” and compared Israel to the Nazis.

Maryland put her on a hate-crime commission, suspended her, put her back, then took CAIR’s seat away.

That is who and what they sent to scold a school-board mother over a cartoon.

Then they made Maggie visit a mosque for “re-education.”

Then local media (who sided with CAIR) filmed her apologizing and called it their big story.

We left her alone.

Not anymore.

You do not cancel Americans for telling the truth.

You do not drag our people into mosques to apologize.

For the third time in a decade, @TomDiNapoli is letting the same failure happen on his watch.

Albany is sitting on nearly $18 million that New Yorkers gave to firefighters, veterans, food banks, cancer research and other causes. More than half of the 36 checkoff funds paid out nothing last year.

This is what DiNapoli does: finds a problem, issues a report, sends out a press release, and watches it happen again.

After nearly 20 years as Comptroller, New Yorkers deserve more than another report explaining how their money is sitting in Albany.

As Comptroller, I’ll publicly name the agencies holding up these funds, hold them accountable, and get this money where New Yorkers intended it to go.
