At approximately 1100 (Sanaa time), while in the South Red Sea, the Arleigh-Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) shot down an Iranian-produced KAS-04 unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. Although its intentions are not known, the UAV was heading toward the warship. At the time of the shoot down, the USS Carney was escorting the USNS SUPPLY (Oiler) and another U.S. flagged and crewed ship carrying military equipment to the region. There were no injuries to U.S. personnel and no damage to U.S. vessels.

Happy Halloween ๐ A B-52H from the 23rd BS, looking particularly grim at Minot AFB (Oct 3, 2023). The ol' battle-axe has seen 70 Halloweens in 'active' service. #avgeeks#aviation#aviationdaily#aviationlovers#USAF
Commanders, take note. If a soldier has a sick family, his focus is his/her family. Giving them just one day to take care of them, will give you, the commander, a more willing, focused soldier.
One of the best things a commander can do when a Soldier has a sick kid or family emergency is make their place of duty home. It shows your people you care, and it empowers subordinates to step up during the unexpected absence of a Soldier.
Why Did You Join The Military?
Everyone joins for a different reason, and there is nothing wrong with that. I joined in 2008. At the time, my dad and both of my brothers were serving. I wanted to enlist when I was 18, but my dad asked me if I was willing to give college a shot before I did.
I wasn't a great student at 18, but I kept my word to my dad. I enlisted at 20, without a degree but some college in the bank.
For me, I always wanted to serve. Growing up as a military dependent, I loved the community. I loved seeing the world. I loved the adventure of it all.
15 years later it is still the best choice that I have made and I would do it all over again.
What made you want to join?
