"He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord."
"Whoa, whoa man, why are you making an idol of marriage?"
"Marriage is honorable by all, and the bed undefiled...
a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love."
"Man, you need to be careful, seems you are going to turn sex into an idol. So unspiritual of you..."
"The glory of young men is their strength."
"Come on man, going to the gym again? Seems to be an idol for you..."
"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward....
and their children are a blessing...
Children’s children are the crown of old men, And the glory of children is their father."
"Number four? Man, seems having kids is an idol to you all..."
I'm convinced at this point mid and big eva and the Christians mislead by them have spent far more time studying under Screwtape than the Scriptures.
Women are literally sacrificing their children daily to the idols of career, autonomy, sexual immorality, and equality.
Odd how little we hear about that.
Homosexuality is not just a sin, it is as the bible says, an "abomination".
Back to our original topic: complementarianism is just egalitarianism driving at the speed limit. It is a worldly compromise that is a half hearted attempt to make male "servant leadership" (aka lead by submitting your wife's emotions) sound respectable.
The bible teaches patriarchy. The man's leads, teaches, and provides to his household. The women and children submit to him in all things not contrary to God's word.
@SecondAmendment 40 years out of 6000 years the bible covers is pretty new. No one preached complementarianism for the last 1950 years of Christianity, because it is not in the bible.
The reason they attack marriage as an idol is to protect the real ones in our day - careers, degrees, status and attainment and affluence and more... especially for women - aka, the idols of feminism, which the church has by and large bowed every knee to and every tongue confesses.
They talk about the gift of "singleness" instead of celibacy to obscure the fact that most singles today are not virgins and therefore don't actually possess the gift of celibacy.
It is amusing and saddening to note that basically all conservative gender discourse is arguing between first, second, and third wave feminism.
So-called complementarianism is just second wave feminism, warmed over with a veneer of difference only in the church.
@DJR69422@LordTemplar1 Typical white knight boomer who always blames the man and never holds women accountable.
Your generation will be remembered like the the wicked and idolatrous nation of Judah, just before God sent the Babylonians, to be a warning against depravity for the next 1000 years.
