Tuesday, February 25 was a historic day for Dunbar! Students and staff came to Dunbar styled for success, honoring the legacy of Dunbar's past and of Black excellence in honor of Black History Month! We looked good. We felt even better. Thank you to all who participated.

We launched this to get students on time & ready to learn with active minds! Today, 63 students showed up on time—the power of bikes!

I was proud to co-introduce this bill prohibiting cell phones and wireless devices during the school day because it will help us deepen learning for students and mitigate behavioral issues across schools. Several Ward 5 schools already prohibit cell phones during the school day, and the results have been overwhelmingly positive.

I look forward to engaging stakeholders as we look to scale these policies across the city.

🧵Big win for DC youth this wk! My #Mentorship bill passed the Council! This bill creates DC’s 1st-ever community service leave, allowing DC govt employees 1 hr/wk to volunteer mentor or tutor youth & it will connect young ppl who have experienced trauma w/a professional #Mentor.
