@EddieComeaux@UCLALawReview@DrUJayakumar To me although not shocked by the results of this chart but more grateful that these results are shown so that higher up committees in colleges can see that there really is a need for change. That there is a racial bias in sports and that there can be difficulties for the people.
@annette_are@TA_ED50 I think that there needs to be more of a program to help student athletes transition from being a student athlete to being part of the workforce. I think this would help guide athletes to success. #UCR50@TA_ED50
In the current state of college athletics and the world of business. I feel as if it can be extremely difficult to make the transition of student athlete to the workforce. I think there needs to be classes or something to help. @TA_ED50#UCR50
@annette_are@TA_ED50 I think that bringing in a tone of money for a school should allow you to receive even a portion of the money that they are bringing in. Because, the school shouldn't be able to take all of what your name is bringing in. #UCR50@TA_ED50
With the new implications in the NCAA there should be an ability for athletes to vote or have a say of the things that are happening to them. For example I think that regarding scholarship times that athletes should be able to chose between a year and four year.
#UCR50@TA_ED50
@amieucr@abhornUCRedu I think that I usually think of a man because I watch a lot of mens football and mens basketball and there is a lot of coaching from males. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Title IX has been of large benefit for multiple reasons throughout the time since in affect. What do we think are some of the biggest benefits that follow?
@annette_are@TA_ED50 I think this quote in the photo really says it how it should be. Keep it to the sport. There is a love of the game and a competitive drive regardless of the background or race that someone comes from. #ucr50@TA_ED50
Is segregation still an issue in athletics? I think we need to continue to ensure equality throughout athletics. No one is greater than the other because of race or gender. We all are competitors who have trained for our sport and we should be treated that way #UCR@TA_ED50
@izyyybel01@TA_ED50 I think athletes mental health is extremely overlooked. Being an athlete means you have to perform at high levels all time under all Different kinds of pressures. @TA_ED50#UCR50
It seems as if everyone has a bias of the intelligence of an athlete before an athlete even walks into a classroom. Why do we think there is such a strong bias against the word athlete? @TA_ED50#UCR50
@ninatraaann@abhornUCRedu I think this is a very good question because the balance is not an easy thing. It can be very easy to feel burnout if things are not done properly. I think the best way to stay out of a burnout state is to find things that bring you joy outside of your sport. #ucr50@TA_ED50
The change that the NCAA made for giving athletes an opportunity to have counseling services was huge for athletic departments. The stress that a student athlete has is large and not having an outlet could be very detrimental. @TA_ED50#UCR50
@edisonpark333 @katraly I think that athletics play a huge part of getting people to come to schools which generates money for that university. This is why I feel like a coaches role is so important to attract more people to the school. Idk its an interesting take. #UCR50@TA_ED50
I think that there is a greater demand for money in the majority of athletic departments now days because of the amount of attention sports are getting through media coverage. The question is where could we get the revenue that is needed to supply the demand? #UCR50@TA_ED50
@seancaster24 I think that a caption is the one who helps be the middle ground in a team. Without a strong leadership. There is no strength in a team. #UCR50@TA_ED50
I was able to expand my knowledge and learn more about the foundation of intercollegiate athletics. It is interesting to note that not only was Paul Robeson the only African American at Rutgers University but his own teammates tried to hurt him. But, He got up. #UCR50@TA_ED50
