“What DIII athletics is today is probably what mid-major Division I was 10 years ago. And so where are our gaps?”
Taking over for longtime AD Skip Noon, @jeremiahpgapro worked to determine what needed to evolve, what was untouchable, and where the Spartans could grow.
JJ Wetherholt by hit trajectory:
Ground balls: .185 Slg %
Line drives: .692 Slg %
Fly balls: .737 Slg %
He's doing well. He just has to try and avoid that rollover swing to 1B/2B. That's his kryptonite right now.
The “boring” stuff wins ballgames:
-Backing up the play
-Putting the ball in play
-Moving the runner
-Making the routine plays
-Consistent communication
-Throwing strikes
-Smart baserunning
-Taking your walks
-Getting HBP, holding your ground
-Hitting a cutoff man
-Hustling out everything
*At some point, the “boring” tasks of ⚾️ will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call “boring.”
Turn the “boring” into the “important” and that’s how you win!

Jordan Walker breakdown 🎯
The unlock? Turning behind the baseball. Staying on plane early, resisting the forward drift.

Monte Lee explains the "Hunt N Shrink" offensive approach the Gamecocks used to get to elite Texas starter Ruger Riojas in a 9-1 win against the No. 2 Longhorns.
The best two strike approach is zone discipline under pressure.
Elite hitters do NOT survive by widening out, shortening up, expanding the zone, or slowing bat speed.
They shrink the zone, keep intent, and swing at strikes more than balls.

If you keep chasing off the plate 0-2 or 1-2, stop trying to cover everything.
Shrink your attention zone & get the pitcher to beat you over the plate.
And if they dot you up, tip your hat and move on.
