How to build your self-esteem. You take a look at yourself. Fix what you can. Teeth, skin, body; take care of yourself. Not for people, do so because you have to live with yourself every day. Educate yourself. However you can. There’s nothing noble about being uninformed. Get your image together. If you don’t know how, ask someone who does. Looking put together is basic respect for yourself. Then the real work starts. The internal stuff. Therapy if the pocket allows. Reflection if you must. Sit with your issues and deal with them.
And somewhere in all of that, you will learn to like yourself properly and definitely not performatively.

When your self-esteem is in order, you stop begging, explaining or shrinking or being mean and horrible. You just show up as your loving, lovable, fabulous self.
