Robert F. Kennedy @RobertfKennedJr has announced the formation of a new political party called We the People, aligned against both the Democrats and the Republicans. Currently there are somewhere between eight and eighteen political parties in the United States that can field candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, but given our electoral system, the two major established parties are so powerful that any other party's candidate that gains significant influence can only do so as a spoiler.

The goal is to reduce support for both the Republican and Democrat Parties to a maximum of ten percent -- the means by which this goal can be achieved must be the creation of at least ten times the number of viable alternative parties in order to split support between them and thereby reduce support for the two major Parties by a significant degree.

The ultimate goal, of course, is the complete elimination of political parties in the United States. In order to achieve this worthy goal, however, it has become necessary to create a vast multitude of differing political parties, many more than the number of established parties that currently exist. The logic of this seems counterintuitive on its face, but looking forward, the strategy is a necessary evil that will serve a greater good.
