SAAB needed the Global more than we could ever need the Gripen. It's not the right jet for Canada's mission. If they're actually considering it then it's most certainly all about some ficticious jobs numbers or simply a political poker chip during trade tensions. I doubt you'll find anyone who will put hands on the jets that want to see the Gripen up-end what's being done in advance of the F-35
@Unbranded63 I get that this is some kind of attempt to be clever and I'm not really a fan of Pierre's...
but...It's not summer.
How about we wait and see what he does once Parliament goes on summer break.
@TomcatJunkie I can speak for a lot of people who would like this as the 2nd aircraft in a mixed fleet with the F-35.
They already have a fair bit of knowledge with it.
The idea of having 2 single-engined aircraft in a mixed fleet is quite silly.
@CTVNews They were just starting to get into groceries when Target (led by Walmart) took them out. They weren't there long enough to leverage e-comm.
We should want our National brands to succeed without being bought up and destroyed by companies in other countries.
The only thing the RCAF maintainers will like about this airplane is the US made engine that they already know quite well. If it comes to them with a Rolls in it it'll cause problems we can't afford to deal with.
This little jet is not a real solution to a mixed fleet idea. They'd be better off getting block III Super Hornet's so they've got a twin-engined option that's already quite familiar.
Chris Johnston: Re Alex Tuch/Sabres: This is a very unique opportunity for him to get a contract north of 10 million dollars on a long term deal; it doesn't seem as though the Sabres are gonna get there; usually these deadlines, though, do push better offers - That's Hockey (6/1)
