Stop telling me I’m ruining my career. I’ve been blackballed on the LA rap scene since 2019 for tweeting that there needs to be more black ppl working on LA radio. DJ Hed and his team told me to apologize and delete the tweets or else they’d make sure I didn’t work in this town.
If you go anywhere there music scene is more driven by street/gang politics not just LA. I think it’s something we need to stop doing as a hip hop culture period. That shit is beyond outdated
Mainstream hip-hop fans are the worst. They don’t actually enjoy music, they enjoy the moment. They are casuals. They will turn on you as soon as you don’t have a “hit”. They are followers. Seasonal fans. Those are not the fans you want. You want loyal, dedicated fans/supporters. To them, selling 10,000 copies independently is a flop not knowing you made $100k off those sales at $10 a pop. Selling out a 500 cap venue is a joke to them. If you ain’t playing stadiums, you failed as a musician. All of your hard work doesn’t mean shit. Real music listeners/fans should be your focus as an artist.
