In private education (of which I have been part for 22+ years now), there is even a greater temptation to "cater" due to many administrators applying retail principles to education (i.e. "the customer is always right"). This waters everything down as well...
This is because "catering" means "lowering expectations". In the long run, they actually resent it. The teachers I ended up loving were the ones who didn't condescend but also held my feet to the fire. This is something I have strived to do in the classroom as well.
Maybe the most brutal irony of modern education is that we’ve done everything we can to cater to students in an attempt to make them love school, only to leave them caring about it less and less.
If it seemed useful or worthwhile to them, they’d probably value it more.
Today's @CzabeCast is a great tribute to @andypollin1 who - while still a horse's ass! - was the godfather to my entire radio career. And the show we did for 16 years, was absolutely a joy. I tried to edit down the essence of it all in under 4 minutes. The entire podcast is worth a listen.
The dedication to this is off the charts 🤯
After 1,993 attempts at trying to throw a perfect game with Roy Oswalt in MVP Baseball 2005 this dude finally got it 🔥

Three days to go until school begins. Ramping up now. Those of us who take our jobs seriously as teachers have never had the "June/July/August" mentality to begin with. It's really just most of July when we shut down.
I've listened to Andy since I was about 13 (44 now) on the old WTEM, then with Tony Kornheiser, then with @Czabe for years on The Sports Reporters and then on ESPN630. Being done dirty here, but I will listen to him wherever I can find. Write a book, AndyPoley!
As I often say, “in this business, you don’t retire, they retire you.” Cumulus just did that to me. I’m open to opportunities, but sadly that’s unlikely at my stage of the game. I’m thankful for the last 7 years at 630 and look forward to what’s next
I realize I'm just a random schlub with very few followers, but I will automatically tune you out if you put "BOMBSHELL!" or "Wake up!" in your tweets. #PSA#TheMoreYouKnow
#Eagles training camp does nothing for me (I only start caring once we get close to Labor Day) and the LeBron signing...it's ok, I guess. So the #Phillies are the hatesink for now, especially since it is still July and I'm not in a school-prep mode yet.
