Would I still support the Bengals if they moved?
Katie, you and your family have run this franchise into the ground for decades, milking the taxpayers of Cincinnati and Ohio for every penny while delivering nothing in return. You have the audacity to even entertain the idea of moving, as if this team has ever been some pillar of success that the city should be grateful for.
Cincinnati didn’t just support the Bengals. We carried them. We funded your stadium. We endured year after year of failure, stubborn front office decisions, and the absolute bare minimum of effort in roster building. For most of the last three decades, this team was the NFL’s version of a poverty franchise, an annual laughingstock that only existed because of the loyalty of its fans.
And now, because you finally lucked into a generational quarterback in Joe Burrow, you suddenly think you have leverage? That you can dangle the idea of relocation like we’re supposed to beg for you to stay?
Let me be crystal clear: If the Bengals left Cincinnati, the city would be better off than your family ever left them.
Would I still be a fan? Absolutely not. Because my loyalty has never been to you, to Mike Brown, or to the clueless decision making that has plagued this franchise for decades. My loyalty is to the city of Cincinnati, a city that deserves better than you.
If you’re even considering leaving, then go. Nobody is stopping you. But don’t expect anyone to follow.
