My biggest hope this season is by this time next summer my tweets about Iraola are being quoted and I’m getting rinsed on the timeline with photos of us lifting silverware.
It is so wildly refreshing to have a manager that is personable and emotionally passionate. From the first interview onwards I couldn’t relate to Slot in the slightest. Iraola is an immediate breath of fresh air in that regard.
Sometimes I wish interviews like this were conducted in their native language so they’re able to fully express themselves & really communicate their full vision in their own words and we get a translated version.
You bring in Diomande, Barcola, Wharton, Hackney, Kayode, one of Schlotterbeck/Jon Martin/Pubill, & Eichhorn (pre-deal). All in that’s roughly £308M. Add Risser if we sell Mamar and that’s roughly £330M and a 10/10 window to complete a rebuild. Everything onwards is maintenance
IMO we should pay whatever it takes for Diomande/Barcola - then be frugal everywhere else.
We’ve always ended up with unexpectedly class players when we’ve penny pinched. A group of £10M-£50M players to flush out depth is good by me. Can go big for defense/keeper in 2027.
The only reason the Diomande fee stings is because we didn’t receive any fees for Salah, Konate, or Robbo.
That’s the club’s fault and it’s an expensive mistake they will pay for this summer. #LFC
@zerbithewizard@RatherbeRed6 They’re clearly willing to listen to offers. The club wouldn’t be on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Yan if that wasn’t the case. RB will turn around and buy Zadok Yohanna and laugh their way to the bank.
Also don’t forget Red Bull are going to want Harvey included in the Diomande deal. I have a feeling we end up around £65M + Harvey plus future fees/clauses.
@UmerNazeef@brianlfc0210 In no realm of reality have you watched Diomande play if that’s your take. He’s closer to Olise and Yamal by a significant margin than Doku.
@Mobyhaque1 I’d honestly be fine loaning him out with an option to buy and pursuing a keeper with better flexes/distribution tbh. But I agree it’s one of the listed of lower likelihood.
@zerbithewizard@RatherbeRed6 It’s not going to be a Football Manager type deal, it’ll be like the Frimpong/Wirtz/Quansah situation where the exchanges will be monetary and siloed, but with the player exchange in mind
@RatherbeRed6@zerbithewizard This, they rate Harvey very highly and English assets always resell for wildly high fees in the future. It’s not just a player they think will make an impact but one they see as an investment for future income.
@Tyrinko I’d be happy to go for alternatives but I think it’s clear the club has prioritized Wharton. I like Costa but he’s a bit too short for me. Risser feels like the total package of tall, fast reflexes and also wildly good at distribution like Alisson so he’s my fav
