what matters is never the failure itself โ it's the response, the lesson, and whether the system is genuinely more resilient afterwards.
resilience isn't designed in one pass. it accumulates, one bad day at a time.

Production incidents are inevitable. Repeated failure is not.
We brought our portfolio CTOs together to unpack what real incidents reveal about building reliable systems. A failed deployment. A missed alert. A cascading failure.
Key learnings from the session.
everyone's been posting that AI made their wifi faster ๐
i asked mine why my uploads were slow and it turned out the problem wasn't my router โ it was another mac on the network quietly relaying all my icloud traffic ๐งต๐

Ubiquity is so ridiculously good. Just did a full apartment upgrade. Cloud router, three U7 Pros. Added a local admin account for an agent. Had Claude optimize all the radio channels, tune mesh settings, and ensure all devices roamed ideally. SCI-FI!
๐ separate cause, same symptom: my laptop wasn't on charger. apple says syncing pauses "to improve power, performance, and network connection."
plugging in alone was a big jump. fixing the cache was another.

โณ and after it was turned off, my mac kept trying the dead cache. apple documents this: "client devices automatically discover changes, but it takes some time."
restarting, or bouncing wifi off/on, skips the wait.
using X for the first time in a decade. haven't even posted yet and Claude's already coaching me: don't tag anyone, no QT, let the post stand on its own.
the suggested reply directly underneath: "yes reformat it as a QT"
never seen a model get peer-pressured by its own UI @claudeai
Best part of today's GitHub outage was Claude quietly filing an incident report at me:
"gh repo create was failing with HTTP 503 from GitHub's GraphQL API (twice); the REST endpoint was unaffected, so I created the repo that way and wired up the remote by hand. Same result โ just noting it in case you hit 503s on other gh commands shortly."
Meanwhile Cursor launches Origin the same afternoon. Waiting on access. Timing is undefeated.
