Skeptic: “The so-called “nanothermite” discovered in the 9/11 dust by Dr. Steven Jones was not nanothermite. It was paint chips… or aluminum and rust from the building.”

Truth:

People promoting the official story and the DEW theory have both made these claims without acknowledging the scientific reality:

1) Thermite is a finely grained mixture of iron oxide POWDER and aluminum POWDER. While there was aluminum in the buildings (the aluminum cladding and aluminum from the crashed airplanes), as well as rust on steel, neither of these was in powder form. Therefore they could not possess thermite’s energetic properties, which were documented in the test of the 9/11 dust particles.

2) The thermitic material found in the dust was composed of nano-scale particles - many times smaller than the width of a human hair. Particles of this size must be engineered using nanotechnology, which is not used in paint production, and could not organically occur in a fire involving aluminum and rust.

3) Claiming these particles are “primer paint” is misleading. Chemist Mark Basile tested both the thermitic particles found in the 9/11 dust and ordinary paint chips using the same processes. The thermitic particles exhibited thermitic behavior, and the paint chips did not. No primer paint has the energetic properties of the particles from the 9/11 dust studied by Dr. Jones and Dr. Niels Harrit’s team. However, that does not mean that the nanothermite used in the WTC was not developed and applied to look like normal paint to the naked eye.

4) The so-called “retest” performed by James Millette was never published in a peer reviewed science journal to face scrutiny. In addition, he did not even perform the same tests that originally identified the thermitic material. Therefore, it would be impossible for him to debunk the tests from Dr. Steven Jones, Dr. Niels Harrit and others that showed highly energetic nanothermite was present in the 9/11 dust. One common 9/11 argument:

SKEPTIC: “That bright metallic liquid flowing out of the South Tower before its collapse is molten aluminum from the airplane, not molten iron from thermite.”

TRUTH: NIST - and other “debunkers” - often bet that their audience won’t do basic research and see that this claim is total nonsense.

Molten aluminum is a SILVER color in daylight conditions.

Molten iron is a YELLOW color in daylight conditions.

But don’t take our word for it - look it up, or ask aluminum smelting expert Gary Warner.

No other possible explanation for this molten metal has been given by official sources.

But one thing is certain: there were many credible reports of molten iron and molten steel found at ground zero after the towers fell. Its presence is irrefutable and unexplained by the official story.

“Debunkers” who deny molten iron was found after 9/11 are either ignorant or intentionally deceiving the public.

Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe

Abstract:
We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower, two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 ˚C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the residue following the ignition of these peculiar red/gray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic.
