Possibly was something to do with Special-ing (volunteer cop with full police powers). Detester of single-crewed cops and defender of the Thin Blue Line.
A side of policing you don’t hear about nor see is how much little acts of kindness even with those detained by police are graced with. The hearts of the men and women who serve to protect the public, property and the law are always questioned but never discerned. #police#plait
Got lost & asked directions from this friendly but professional officer. Thought I'd tempt her into the Met. Alas, she told me she'd served for a number of years, L2 trained & was fluent in 7 languages. She simply had enough. Now her management is far better. Pay is OK. Wake up Sir Mark, Sadiq & Yvette
@EM_RESUS Dry socket. Tore ligaments, broken bones, vomited from back pain. Dry socket made we weep for nearly 3 days. Got hooked to codeine and warm tea as only things that touched the sides.
6 years ago I started my little excursion as a Special Constable. Goodness it feels so long ago, how I had the energy or time is beyond me. Love and prayers for the men and women in blue.
Said it before I’ll say it again. If you can afford a holiday that’s fine. But for those of us who can’t, taking your kids to the beach for a paddle, or swim in a river is now a luxury we’ve had taken away. It may not sound like much to you but for us it was everything. So knowing water companies would rather pay their shareholders than look after the infrastructure, why should WE be bailing them out? We should renationalise… who’s gonna look after it better, a company who chose to neglect the system and pay shareholders or us as country owning it again?

Great to see common sense response to this outcry.
1. Yes horrible to see on video
2. We all hate seeing animals harmed
3. Officer used best judgment to protect the community. https://t.co/3e3dxulxoX
It’s national volunteering week; since I started as a special 13 years ago I have completed 8,180 hours of volunteering as a police officer for @SurreyPolice@SurreySpecials and 3 years as trustee for @policecareuk - could you volunteer?
It’s the middle of the night, you hear a smash down stairs.
You get out of bed, run downstairs and see someone standing in your living room.
You grab your phone and dial 999.
The police arrive a short time later and tell the ‘suspect’ they’re under arrest on suspicion of burglary. The officer handcuffs the ‘suspect’ to stop them from escaping and escorts them to a custody suite.
You’re happy because you called the police and they did their job.
But the next day you get a phone call telling you the ‘suspect’ has been released with no further action being taken against them and the arresting officer is now under investigation.
You’re shocked.
Why?
You’re told that the arresting officer shouldn’t have assumed that the ‘suspect’ smashed your window and broke into your house, there’s no witnesses and the ‘suspect’ says the glass on their clothing was from when they stepped in through the already broken window. You’re told that the ‘suspect’ was an innocent passer by and just popped in through the broken window to warm up from being cold outside and had not committed a criminal offence because they only entered as a trespasser, a civil offence.
No one saw them break the window, so the officer should have just told them to leave, as this was *obviously* a civil matter. But they didn’t, so instead the officer is being investigated for assaulting the suspect by handcuffing them because they should have known the matter was only civil and therefore they didn’t have a use of force under S117 PACE 1984.
Later that day, you see a headline saying that ‘the police need more training on how to deal with simple trespassing matters’.
But, your window’s still broken and you were terrified someone was inside your house without your permission, and you had no idea what they intended to do next, so were you wrong to be happy they were arrested?
Now you wonder, how we got here…🤷🏼♂️

@WellpaddedPaddy I dare say there could be a possibility but rules are a changing so I’m just going to let this season go and if I get to a place in life I can return I’ll see what’s what
W/e before last, kids with me, drove upon a moped RTC. Told kids “daddy’s going to see if they need help. Stay in the car”. Turns out no one first aid trained. 17yr old trying to remove his helmet as in agony over his compound fracture. Blood dripping onto the road and did best
My ‘didn’t earn it’ of the day just came through the post. Retired last year and handed back warrant card but today this arrived. Miss it even more now, especially with that RTC I encountered recently.
replies 11yr old. Finishing with “you just have to help people”. 🥰😂🥹 Gotta love them but was a privilege using my old OST first aid training even if out of date. Turns out the 17yr old was a friend of a friend and is recovering. Miss you lot and miss the chaos.
Boy, do I miss the calling of serving as a Special Constable. Asked kids for a teaching moment “why did daddy pull over?” hoping they’d recognise importance of training and being willing to help. I got back “you’re just an awesome man” says 8yr old. “You’re just a golden guy”
