Final fours... that's what Kansas does! 🌾
@KUWomensGolf's Lyla Louderbaugh outlasts Kiara Romero in 20 holes to earn the final spot in the U.S. Women's Amateur semifinals.
I am very thankful for growing up in the era I did. Watching Sandberg and the Cubs on WGN is a memory I will never forget. As a young ballplayer, he was everything I wanted to be. I couldn’t imagine my childhood without that experience. Rest easy #23…
@_sambuckland@nsanelanetrain2@adamtirapelle@jnielsen I didn’t see Iowa or Nebraska using the out of bounds to avoid a takedown. That’s my whole point. The action took them there, leave them alone. Instead of working on the edge for a TD, the ref wanted them to center. One would try, the other block. It’s a mess. Leave them alone.
@mclaughlinljohn@adamtirapelle@jnielsen If they don’t listen and defend a shot on the edge they get called for stalling, when it isn’t stalling. Thats my point. You are able to use the whole mat, an official shouldn’t dictate how the match goes.
@nsanelanetrain2@adamtirapelle@jnielsen But why? Why do I get dinged defending a shot at the edge of the mat? It’s the same as the center of the mat. Action takes you everywhere. Unless I’m backing up directly to the edge, the referee can keep that to himself.
@adamtirapelle@jnielsen I have no issue with telling wrestlers to keep it clean, hands, etc. But I can’t tell you how much I hate it when they tell a wrestler to center. There is a whole mat for a reason, and the offending wrestler starts to block him out right away. It’s terrible…
@SpeyWrestle@JackMcGreevy6@TheReadyRoom1@WrestlingSNL@CPyles8 I have to admit, I saw the mistake only because other people on twitter reposted it….Spey is right here. Flo messed up, but by other people trying to crap on Flo, they made it much, much worse….
@MrPatMineo@cmfuld So do you think any of those guys spoke to the wrestling staff before hand, or just took the leap of faith and enrolled, hoping to have a spot on the team?
@OmGwTfBbQ117@MrPatMineo Of course there is nothing stopping them. I’m saying they didn’t just randomly go to a different school with hope of just walking on the wrestling team. They had communication with the staff ahead of time…..
Anytime I see these heartbreaking losses or any loss at the Olympics for that matter I remember a tinge of the hurt I felt in 2008 for my hubby.
I used to think I’m not sure what’s worse: not getting the opportunity to compete at the Olympics or getting there and not achieving the ultimate goal. Almost every decision leading up to it was made around training and getting your body and mind in the best possible place. It’s just such a short window of time that the sacrifices made are not even a surprise it’s just an expectation.
And then you return home.
And it’s a little bit like a death in the family if I’m honest. Everyone goes back to work and you’re a little lost. Similar to how college athletes feel when their career is done- it’s like what now. Up until this point they have been told where to be, what to do ect.
To those who are at home waiting for their favorite athletes to return know they need your support just as much now as they did leading up to Paris. Everyone loves to celebrate someone who wins, but most don’t know what to say when The athlete comes home empty handed. Even when they return home with a medal I can guarantee although it’s easy to say, “at least you got a medal” internally they are thinking there was only one color they were hunting for…..
That never satisfied feeling is what got them this far in the first place. Passion can border obsession and the line of healthy and unhealthy can become blurred at times. Just know they may dip from side to side and when it’s all said and done no matter the outcome, there will be a small part of them that will question, replay, and struggle to be satisfied with anything but the absolute best result. Those that are able to channel that hurt and disappointment to help others coming up behind them…that is when we begin to see that healthiness return and that pain turn into purpose.
To all the Olympians- I am So in awe of you and proud to watch you no matter the outcome. To my Olympian- I would do it all
over again no matter the outcome and better than I did the first time ❤️
