Sardonic takes on sports, politics, entertainment and the occasional awkward story. We're the corner of the internet where sensibility and civility still exist.
@REBEL66696669@Super70sSports Piazza was a cool story. He was getting in. Fun fact: his family’s business is/was worth like a hundred million dollars so he didn’t really need baseball to pay the bills. He truly loved the game.
@realGRBrown@tokusatsu1984@HaggardMik8194@Super70sSports The truth is whatever people think it is. Unfortunately he will forever be lumped into the group of cheaters. It might be unfair but when it comes the Hall, I think it’s better to be as tough as possible. It’s like job searches ask if you’ve been arrested, not convicted.
@3xCrownSports@mrathgeber22@Super70sSports Parker, maybe because of his arm and he could hit for power and average (pretty sure he won a batting title), but he’s one of those who could be excluded just to set a clear standard. Mattingly, Santo, they’re in the same boat along with Albert Belle and Mark McGwire.
@3xCrownSports@mrathgeber22@Super70sSports I lost faith in the Hall when Harold Baines and Jeff Kent got in. I’d rather have known steroid users who would have gotten in without them (Bonds, Clemens, etc) inducted in a separate asterisk wing in Cooperstown than see it full of non-deserving players.
Three lies & one truth:
1. I used to be a working Hollywood actor
2. I used to be a working Hollywood writer
3. I used to be a working Hollywood producer
4. I used to be a working Hollywood director.
Pro Tip: If you want to meet celebrities, skate to where the puck is.
For example here’s a blurry photo of a youth basketball coach. Can you guess his day job? Monday - Friday you needed three types of clearance just to meet with his secretary. Saturday and Sunday, you could probably trade him your parking spot for a free script coverage.
@RobertChatel51@mrathgeber22@Super70sSports I agree. Some players hurt their chances because they had bad personalities. I’m sure the HoF would look a lot different if only players and managers could vote
@josh18765@Super70sSports Bagwell weird stance probably offset any performance-enhancing gains from the hot sauce. Just imagine how many more home runs he’d have if he had a more natural, powerful stance.
I wouldn’t necessarily put Ortiz in, Pudge gets in on defense not offense.
@gehrig38 I chose not to renew my Hall of Fame membership this year.
Unpopular political views should not be a criteria for inclusion. Schilling’s stats are good enough. His sock is now a post-season icon. And he ranks among the all-time greats.
I’ll renew when he’s in.
@WhiteHouse I see a man who knew the Iran situation wouldn’t work out, but publicly won’t admit that for fear of retribution from his boss that would end his political career.
I see fear and a lack of conviction. Please explain how this is “Alpha”?
@OleTimeHardball He and Ron Santo get something else. The Santo-Mattingly (S&M) line. Similar to the Mendoza line, a clear mark that creates no confusion to be eligible for HoF consideration.
Thinking about S&M is painful, but it’s necessary to preserve the HoF’s integrity. Both were deserving.
@JohnZim72513099 This is partially correct. I was known to raid the craft services food buffets often, for productions I was not involved with, whenever I would visit a studio lot.
It’s been a while but Warner Bros always had the most gourmet platters.
@BBGreatMoments Boomer also threw a perfect game while nursing a rough hangover after a night of partying with the SNL cast. Guy was an absolute monster on the mound, and apparently a legend in NYC off of it.
@MeghanMcCain Republicans and Democrats need more moderates like your father. Someone with principles but willing to have friends on thr other side outside of politics. We need a move to the middle.
Maybe you’d consider running one day?
