Tonight Council determined to retain the protected bike lanes on Elizabeth St and will now look forward to working with Housing Vic. in the urban renewal of the area and upgrading of the street. Great outcome for a popular connection with the City, Lennox St and Nth Richmond.

@xenzor1 @CoxyJindas I saw a car stop in the middle of Lt Collins St the other day. Totally blocking traffic. Seems similar in outcome to old mate walking in the middle of the street.

Yet I can't see that person getting assaulted, or the assaulter being applauded as a result. Car brain in action

@xenzor1 @CoxyJindas I don't see how people can justify assault for causing annoyance or delay. Legal or not, disliking what someone's doing doesn't mean you can assault them

If it was a car going equally slow or even stopped, I can't see the response being anything like this. Car brain for sure

@lavosaurus Agreed. The status quo isn't working. Perhaps the council should investigate changing the fees and controls in order to manage the demand? People won't support increasing near the beach, so existing parking should be managed more effectively to order to get a better outcome.

@AITA_online Interesting that OP's solution to his car problem is for his gf to make changes to her lifestyle. He could have been flexible and made some changes - get a loan, closer job, carpool with someone else, catch the bus sometimes etc
