Are you serious? You're just copying and pasting what the director said instead of forming your own opinion. People don't just check out during monster fights. The more people try to act all smart and pretentious, the more they show how little they know of the series.

As soon as you add in another monster, the audience seems to check out and revert to a spectacle > story brain, which isn't always what the filmmaker wants. Very few films have found a balance with this. I think the best examples are GMK and Mothra VS Godzilla.
