While I'm thinking about hidden game design again:
I've worked both in the gaming space as well as simulation and training and there is one thing that sets games apart from simulations in the way we design them:
Games need to think about numbers emotionally, not mathematically.
I begged @RestorationGame to give me the new FIREBALL ISLAND prototype for the show so I could be the first person to see it! Ya know, cause I'm sad like that. The new version is truly amazing. Can't wait to play it... #TheGoldbergs
Designers easily get trapped into fierce taxonomical debates (recently “is The Mind” a game or a social activity?”)
Those debates are fine, I guess, academically. But they bore the life out of me and suck all joy from the creative process.
@DanielSolis Welp lots of people have already hopped on, but I love the distinctions. My preferences for Game Persons: Designer-Systems-Games | Inventor-Things-Toys | Writer-Books-RPGs
