@crainger@paulverhoeven We suggest the Bartitsu first as the other choice, combined with Alcohol, may lead to one thinking they do not need the knowledge of the martial arts to take on the world.
@Matthew01957585@RamseyDewey there is a common misconception that bartitsu is just stick fighting, where it does combine the arts of pugilism, savate, jujitsu and wrestling.
It would be great to see a MMA take a deep dive into Bartitsu.
@Matthew01957585@RamseyDewey We would be interested to hear Ramsey’s views on Bartitsu. I think typically you can break practitioners into 3, historians, steampunk fans and those generally looking at self defence applications. A person may belong to more than one of those groups.
One thing we find is that..
@NancySpringer@HolmesMagazine I found it an extremely pleasant film and enjoyed that the two brothers were portrayed in the light of how a younger sibling may see them.
I must look into getting the books.
@Brooklynmonk Fantastic! A lot of practitioners of modern Bartitsu look at Eastern arts such as JuJitsu and Western arts like Catch wrestling.
Though Bartitsu, can be seen as a philosophy of defence and the integration of systems in a scientific manner.
@Columba_1@moritheil @snotaboutyou @s_amememe___ I personally enjoyed the movie.
As for actors portraying characters, Liz Taylor isn’t Egyptian but played a wonderful Cleopatra.
But movies are never going to be to everyone’s taste and that is the beauty of the world, it takes all sorts to make it go around :)
