Meet with one of my former QAs today and he was thanking me that I continously told him "learn the product" when he started.
His only complaint was that I should have repeated it even more often than I did.
So to everyone who it may concern: "learn the product" 😉

Can't believe this post is from 2015. I wish I would have seen this earlier. It could have saved me so many hours of discussions 😃

You know that your doorbell manufacturer didn't care about #usability when every second delivery I get a call from the delivery person asking how they get in 🙄😄
Endeavours in leading cross-functional teams…
What I want to see to my QAs:
'Ah, you don't need to test this, this can't break.'
What my mind tells me just before:
'Stop it, you know everything can break!' 🔥🌍🔥
@kitterati @lisacrispin I usually just do this after a 2+min monologue when I'm not sure if people followed me through it. More specifically 'does that make sense to you?' And the intention is to check if anything is unclear of what I said. But i'm also not a native speaker. 🤷♂️ is that something bad?
@Maaikees I'm "preaching" regularly that automating UI tests and that it is important to consider what is best tested in which layer.. But most people seem to believe automated UI tests solve all your problems.
Since you started sharing your scepticism I feel less alone, thank you!
@james_willett1 @MichaKutz Pair code reviews... Aka let the other explain his/her code to you.
Gives you room to think of what you have done and what potential pitfalls you would have handled
@mirjam_diala @EuroTestingConf I mostly designed it for developers, but the first thing I try to make clear is that TDD doesn't mean to have the perfect test first. I saw lots of people being worried about to find a suitable test before they wrote any code.
After around 3-4 years I had to remove "BDD advocate" from my bio. I realised that I lost my faith in it. Sure it has its use cases. But I haven't had a use case for it.
