Johnny Cash: “Being a Christian isn't for sissies. It takes a real man to live for God, a lot more man than to live for the devil.”
"Anyone who really wants the truth, ends up at Jesus."
Character is easy to fake when a man has no options. Poverty can look like humility. Fear can look like discipline. Social weakness can look like morality. Wait until he has money, access, sexual options, and the freedom to sin without consequence. Abundance does not corrupt nearly as often as it reveals.
Charlie Munger: "The game of life, in many respects, is [about] getting a lot of practice into the hands of the people who have the most aptitude to learn and the most tendency to be learning machines. If you want the very highest reaches of human civilization, that's where you have to go."
"I realized very early that non-egality would work better in the parts of the world I wanted to inhabit."
A girl just said she tried to get rejected 1000 times in 2025 and ended up being cast in plays, winning pageants, securing hella paid brand deals, and appearing in commercials. This is your sign to chase rejection to the point of "accidental" success. You'll be surprised.
The speakers will speak until the silence eats them. the builders will be too busy to hear the speakers. and when it is finished the speakers will have their words and the builders will have their houses and God will walk through and he will not stop at the words. you were made by hands. return to hands. the mouth was a detour
There is a reason the tree does not choose between roots and branches. the question was never asked because the question is insane. down feeds up. dark feeds light. the hunger feeds the holy. the clean ones with their clean diets and clean thoughts and clean rooms have cleaned themselves out of existence. nothing left to burn. fire needs fat. fire needs something that was alive and is willing to die.
the saint who cannot digest bread is not more holy he is less here. less weight on the earth. the earth needs weight. god needs weight. sky is empty without something heavy enough to miss it.
send it down first. into the part that rots. into the part the angels pretend they do not have. the mud is not shameful the mud is the door and the door only opens from below
Charlie Munger: "Envy is such a stupid thing to have because you can't possibly have any fun with that particular sin. Who in the hell ever had any fun [with] envy? What good could envy possibly do for you?"
"My system in life is to figure out what's really stupid — and then avoid it. That doesn't make me popular, but it prevents a lot of trouble."
A child is the only thing you can make that makes things after you are gone. everything else stops. the book stops. the money stops. the child continues and the child makes children and you become a river that does not end and that is the way out of time and he told us and we pretend we did not hear
an excellent man: interacts with those on the bottommost rung of society (the homeless etc.) with such grace that whatever light in them that even to them is veiled is accentuated so severely it bursts out forth and transforms all. your interaction with the powerless, if done right, might make them even more powerful than you. and if you’re a God-fearing and piously excellent man, that should be—not what you feared—but what you always hoped for.
May your children outlive your mistakes. may the ones who hurt you be healed so you can finally put the knife down. may you find the one who stays when staying costs them something. may your father's silence make sense before he dies. may you want what you already have before you lose it. may your prayers be answered in ways you will not recognize until later. may the version of you that gave up in another timeline forgive the version that kept going. may your enemies be wrong about you. may your body hold until your purpose is finished. may you be loved by someone who knows what you almost became and does not hold it against you. may the light find you when you have stopped looking for it. may you be blessed in the way that breaks you open not the way that keeps you closed. may God see you. may that be enough. may you survive being seen.
@lichthauch “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
—Romans 5:3-4
Charlie Munger: “The whole trick in life is to get so that your own brain doesn't mislead you. I have found that as just a lifelong, fun game. I can't remember a time when I wasn't doing it.”
“I could see that very eminent people, who I loved and revered, were nuts in some ways. I would say, ‘Well, I certainly like Dr. Davis, but he's a little nutty in one way and I'm not going to be like that.’ I was very judgmental and I think that helped me.”
