@DETsports14@BigFlamesGuy No, Misa was the a 2nd overall pick, and the Sharks are picking #2 overall this draft also. The trade suggestion was both for Larkin.
If these were the choices:
— Lane Hutson
— Rasmus Dahlin
— Moritz Seider
— Jake Sanderson
— Matthew Schaefer
Which defensemen would you build around for the next 5 years?
Average NHL rumor this summer:
Star player potentially on trade block
Analyst: Sharks have lots of assets maybe they’d want to hemorrhage their future overpaying for our player
Yeah I’m sure the Sharks are ready to trade a 19 year old projected 1/2 C, and a potential 1W or 1D both for a 29 year old low end 1C. Red Wings living in a hysterical nightmare right now.
Could Larkin could fetch back the 2nd overall from San Jose (Ivar Stenberg) and Misa? Thats your goal.
what would even this out?
Would you move ASP + Larkin for 1st and Misa? sounds scary but you're adding a potential no 1/2 C and a top 6 winger with speed who can drive play

I don't think people really understand the player market environment we are about to enter. #1D are essential to a championship team, and are almost never available outside the draft. Even with the Q Hughes deal, it required a likely future #1D ++ to get the deal done.
The last 2 years in Norris voting the top 10 had 1-2 of those guys acquired outside the draft / outside the 1st round. The top D guys just are not readily available. My main point is that acting like Chase Reid, who is consensus #3 is an egregious reach at #2, when he plays a high demand position and Stenberg plays LW, and it's a team with one serious D prospect is just off.
You are literally arguing with yourself. I never said they had to be top 2, that was you. I said you need to get them in the draft in this market condition. To act like the only reason a GM wouldn't be able to acquire a #1D outside the draft or even the 1st round is lack of creativity is just dishonest to the market dynamics at the position right now.
@politicstcan Yeah it's actually just that simple! Hey everyone, just draft gems only and you can build a blue line! Also the inclusion of Moser here lol... Remind me what round Makar, Hughes, Heiskanen, Hedman, Karlsson, Doughty, Werenski, Dahlin were drafted in.
@Buckfoston@WeSeeWhatHappen@BuresFlow The Leafs make the most money even when they are awful, why would the league send McKenna there instead of say Seattle, a new market team with no star power destined for an eternity of mid without a star player? It's not rigged we all watched the balls live.
@JFreshHockey Obviously the league wanted to send a potential franchise player to a tire fire organization, that is on their way out of contention, in an extremely stable market that needs no help! Gary Bettman loves young players being damned to hell, can't you see that JFresh??
