That would explain him surviving impacts that the suit wouldn't otherwise prevent from turning him to mush.

If you watch the section on the character, they say the helmet could be used for his double if needed, but they didn't need it to. Sounds like they'd already planned for the helmet regardless.

Supposedly the helmet was developed in case they needed to use a double, but LeBlanc didn't miss any shoots.

It allowed the Stranger to mentor Mae while Qimir manipulated her with a softer touch.

It also protected his identity if a Jedi survived an encounter, disabled the only weapon Jedi carry, & was stylized to incite fear.

Seems more likely that the spell is still in place. Hela just didn't lift it. She just had enough raw power to halt its momentum and then crush it.
