Healthy Churches are intentional to
1. Proclaim the Gospel
2. Stay Faithful to the Word
3. Make Disciples
4. Expand the Kingdom
5. Add value to the places they touch
Willy Rice just preached one of the most prophetic and prescient sermons ever delivered at an SBC Pastor's Conference, based on Saul's compromise in 1 Samuel 14-15.
Here is a brief clip, with the full version below.
We just had a beloved member of our church go to be with Jesus. His name is Kelly Gaudreau.
I humbly ask you to listen to how he turned his greatest pain into his greatest ministry. Well done, my friend. Well done.
Every single time you encounter someone who you *assume* is not interested in hearing the Gospel, remember this story.
What if Jesus is sending YOU specifically to share His message with a specific person at a specific time?
God's waymaker, He can make a way where they is no way.
Man… Theo Von just unpacked Jesus’ question in such a honest and transparent way. I don’t think we often consider how difficult it is to let go of what we’ve known our entire lives. Those of us who’ve taken the step know it’s worth it, but let’s be honest. It’s hard. Life changing, but hard.
I pray he finds his new story.
Theo Von’s honesty about Jesus’s question “Do you want to be healed?” shows remarkable transparency.
I encourage you to have the same kind of introspection and pray for the Lord to keep working in @TheoVon 🙏🏼
As one who has said, “Yes” to Jesus, I confirm He is with it.
"Maybe it will get better with time" is lie that leaders tell ourselves.
It will not.
Make the hard call now.
It will only get more difficult and painful later.
This season in History is revealing how most of humanity is unwilling to do the hard, yet important thing. The easy, yet inconsequential thing give us a feeling of “progress” but takes us further and further from forward movement.
The term "theological liberalism" is thrown around a lot.
When push comes to shove though, it still boils down to Richard Niebuhr's summation of what theological liberalism truly is: "A God without wrath brought men without sin into a kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross" (Kingdom of God in America, 193).
Liberal/progressive Christianity is more than that but it is no less than that, and it will always come down to it. Niebuhr's words 89 years ago are just as applicable in 1937 as they are today.

For 8 years, I prayed desperately for something that never happened.
To anyone going through a season of "unanswered" prayers, please hold on. God might have something even *better* for you that you simply cannot see right now 🙏
Voddie Baucham cracks up the entire congregation:
"People who don't believe in original sin don't have children. I've said before and I'll say it again. It's not a little angel. That's a viper in a diaper!"
Insider language and “Christianese” can make a person feel disconnected, lost, and like an outsider who doesn’t fit. If the goal is to connect people to Christ’s Community, then we have to make people feel welcome and invited in.
7) Don’t forget to consider those who might not have much experience in the church context. You might think you know everyone in your service, but you have no idea who might be watching your content online. Communicate purposefully with this in mind!
Unfortunately I listened to lots of wandering messages today that I struggled to grasp the main point of where the speaker was going. Just because you used lots of scripture doesn’t mean it was helpful to the hearer. Know why it’s important and then communicate that why.
6. If people can’t walk out of your message knowing what the main point was, you missed. Don’t step on the stage unless you can quickly and clearly articulate what the point is and what you want people to do in response.
5. Pastors, don’t neglect the importance of making a connection with your audience at the beginning of the message. Use a story, create meaningful tension, set the stage.People want to know why what you’re about to say is important. Get them on board with you before you take off
4. More cameras and more angles is not always helpful. Sometimes just a few good shots, wisely utilized, is better than 10 shots that are switched too often. Constant shot switching can be distracting and disengaging.
3. Keep your announcements focused, clear, and concise. If you’re not careful, a wandering, un-engaging, and seemingly unending list of things can disengage a spirit that you’ve just worked hard to engage with the Lord. This makes the task of engaging with the Word more difficult
