The family of one of the 20 abducted NYSC members says it borrowed money and sought donations to raise ₦6 million to pay a ransom. The family has disputed claims that the corps members were released without payment, citing the cost of securing their child’s freedom. @MbadikeVictor14 reports.
In May 2017, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos stated via palace release that Aworis were Binis who followed their self-exiled prince, the first son of the Ogiso of Benin. This prince, Izoduwa (called Oduduwa by Yorubas, known in Benin tradition as Ekaladerhan), was made ruler of the Ife people due to his powers and followers. He became the first king of Ile-Ife in 1230 AD, establishing its dynasty. His Benin followers became the Aworis who later settled in Eko (Lagos).
