At the Cape Town Photography Festival on Thursday, 25th September. I engaged in a great conversation with Mr. Lazarus Serobe, the Managing Director of the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO). Our discussion centered around the application of copyright law in photography, where we exchanged practical guidance and insights. We emphasized the significance of copyright within the industry, highlighting its essential role in protecting the rights of creatives.
Here are some highlights from the Workshop we hosted @worldartgallery with @CPTPhotoFest
Our Managing Director, Mr. Lazarus Serobe kicked things off with a breakdown of who DALRO is and how we represent creators/authors. There is also no joining fee when you sign a mandate with DALRO.
Renowned Photographer, Siphiwe Mhlambi @siphiwemhlambi shared his testimony about how his work was used without permission and how he sought assistance from DALRO. We were able to assist.
Siphiwe Mhlambi closed off the session with emphasis on the importance of protecting your work as a creatie.
A special shout out to the students of @therainbowacademysa - thank you for your engagements during the session.
Remember to get in touch by emailing us on [email protected]
We are happy to answer all the questions you may have.
