Rogue paladin might be my favorite multiclass. Just the idea of a paladin who will pocket sand and then remind people “ my code says nothing about fighting dirty” is something I’d like to see more of as a dm

@TheKindGM Add in a touch of “I don’t want to go there” ( the key you need is in the basement! Etc) and you can really start to get under their skin. But that’s the short answer. Hope it helps! 4/4

@TheKindGM Now if you have creepy noises, unsettling imagery along with hit and run tactics being used by say a ghost, you can keep stacking tension, adding imagery and getting them as immersed as possible, you can get them to start freaking out a bit 3/4

@TheKindGM An example I often use is 5 goblins. Players know how to handle 5 goblins attacking them (fighter gets out front, wizard casts spells, rogue hides etc) but putting them in a situation where they don’t have a pre planned solution with some built up tension can 2/???

@TheKindGM The short answer is tension and uncertainty. And letting it build with the trappings of horror (ghosts etc). Often times they will use humor to deflect, and several other emotions(frustration, panic)are a good sign that you are getting under their skin. 1/???
