Homeschool your children, raise them in the faith, fully integrate their identify with Christ, Christ’s family (the church) and your own family at home. If you can’t, then try to have your children at a faithful Catholic school. More people can homeschool than they think.

In 1965, 50% of Catholic children in America went to Catholic schools.

Today it is less than 10% and we close nearly 100 Catholic schools every year. Unfortunately, 95% of Catholic children who attend public schools do not attend Mass as adults.

But there is good news! Over the past decade there has been a rebirth of Catholic education. New Catholic schools are launching and many older schools are returning to orthodoxy. These schools have chucked the public school textbooks and assessments and are digging deep into the Catholic intellectual tradition and drawing students into the love of Christ through the Sacramental life of the Church. The future is bright.

Actuaries in NM and TX follow federal law as enforced by states. It’s on paper and it’s clear.

In other states, federal law is not enforced and enforcement is what state regulators “deem appropriate”. It’s not in writing (“must be reasonable” is not a rule) and it’s vague. It’s professionally uncomfortable.

Premiums are not annual metrics but rather cyclical metrics reflecting 3-5 years worth of market changes. Competition drove prices down, losses in 21/22 drive prices up…but 3.5% is low anyway.

@justinyoo13 Good on the ground knowledge! One other point that I sometimes wonder is subsidies are based on projected income which could change. How many people hedge that by choosing Gold knowing if they make more could still be free. Maybe very few would think about that.

I would consider choosing a $0 Gold BCBSTX plan over a $0 Platinum Medicaid plan...I value broader networks, others do as well, not sure what % of the movement is doing so with the right understanding but its not an arbitrage decision for every sub 200% FPL consumer.

The ACA was designed to eliminate commissions so that makes sense. As artificial technology grows, lack of trust grows and agents have more value in establishing trust but an exchange and minimum loss ratio is there to cut them out. The MLR May in the end hurt the ACAs growth.

At an agents conference. Lack of ACA knowledge and bias against "Obamacare" is overwhelming. And there is no one educating the agents on ACA nor an incentive to do so (compared to Medicare/MAPD). I don't have the answer, but we need to address the issue.
