A Catholic professor gives a talk on "The Eclipse of Catholic Pelvic Morality." I wasn't having it. What followed was an uncomfortable confrontation, but I felt it was necessary. Was I wrong to confront him publicly? What do you think?

@EricRSammons I just don't see that the pope is infallible in his legal judgments.
With his authority, he can choose to excommunicate someone for looking at him cross-eyed, I suppose.
But can't he be mistaken on whether someone is excmnctd *himself* -- latae sententiae?
Lawyers disagree.
Rome should extend an olive branch to SSPX in fraternal charity:
For every 🏳️🌈-promoting priest Pope Leo appoints to become a bishop, he should agree to give the SSPX & all the other traditional fraternities (FSSP, ICK, etc.) one bishop each of their own number, w/ jurisdiction.
Pope Leo named German Bishop Christian Würtz despite his approval of the heretical Synodal Way that denied Catholic teaching on homosexuality and other issues.

After the stated goals of Traditionis Custodes, and Leo's promise to continue Francis' work, I can't imagine a scenario where Pope Leo would eventually forbid bishops to ordain TLM-only priests.
Who could imagine anything like that? How could that even be a possibility?
Right?
Why does it feel like Cdl. Burke is doing most of these Ecclesia Dei ordination (for FSSP and ICKSP)? Who's going to ordain these priests when he can no longer? Food for thought on why the SSPX believed they needed bishops.
@EricRSammons What if the pope says you have to do the chicken dance in the line to receive Communion on the hand, and then must moonwalk back to your pew after receiving?
Obedience in that context?
@underground2099@EricRSammons@meaningofcath I think we're on shaky ground if we think the keys of the kingdom are meant to allow for inventions.
That would make for a situation not much different than Jehovah's Witnesses or the Mormons. It wouldn't be Tradition, but the "Latest Thing."
@underground2099@EricRSammons@meaningofcath That's right, or at least it was made with his stamp of approval.
Who made the old Mass?
Are popes guardians of Tradition or inventors of it?
@EricRSammons@meaningofcath If a Catholic examination of conscience from the 1950s asked, "Have you knowingly attended and actively participated in Masses wherein its prayers and rubriks were altered, cut, or in other ways made to be more palatable to Protestants?", no one would have batted an eye.
@TheBadTrad@EWTNVatican Because the pope is always impeccable and infallible in all matters and at all times -- just like what our good Protestant brothers in the faith tell us we believe! 😂
The default disposition for faithful Catholics should be obedience.
But obedience to bad actors in powerful positions is not our high calling when they ask us with creeping incrementalism to abandon the universal magisterium.
Because if someone sincerely believes the N.O. Mass is an intentionally Protestantized new rite designed by dubious characters to undermine the Catholic Faith, he if not obliged to receive the Host regardless of the celebrant.
It's not how communion w/ a pope is determined.
If you attend a Mass celebrated by the pope, but refuse to receive communion because it’s a Novus Ordo Mass, how can you say you’re in communion with the pope?

When conservative Catholics boast of their "reverent Novus Ordo Masses informed by the TLM," I wonder: Why not be fully informed?
Would they object to the TLM fully in English?
What parts of the TLM do they not want to inform their New Mass?
Their answers would be revealing.
