Follow up: my parents have given me cash to buy them liquor at Costco and take it to them when I visit the next time not all Costco stores sell liquor so I could get them cases or large bottles of premium liquor just over wholesale prices. So it’s actually a prudent move and I typically got to keep the change as well so it’s a win win. Min your own business.

You’ve flipped 50+ houses if you can’t afford steak and alcohol I think that says more about what you prioritize vs what they do. If they spent all their money on food and bills then maybe they wouldn’t need assistance but how are you going to forget that they’re poor if they don’t eat steak and drink top-shelf booze all the time. Well it is the way it works. Bartenders, bus staff, hostesses and sometimes the kitchen all get a part of a servers tips at the end of every shift. Bartenders typically get their own percent of alcohol or total sales then you tip the others out based on your total sales. So if I have one table all night and then they pay their bill but don’t tip me or tip me under what I’d have to tip out then I will literally have paid for that table to eat. I would leave at the end of my shift with less money than I walked in with.
