@RaysMetrics I still like the framework of a Baz/Simpson trade. Maybe Lowe goes back too, or is involved in another deal addressing the rotation. Can't see any way BOTH Pepiot and Baz go back without some sort of contingency plan.
@Chandler_Rome@Ken_Rosenthal Having watched almost every one of Baz's starts last season, his stuff is insane Gerrit Cole level upside. Former top pitching prospect in all of baseball before injuries. Still regularly hits 100 with nasty breaking stuff.
@AlexFast8 His slider before was definitely more of a tight cutter that he would throw off the off the plate against lefties and up and in against righties. There has been speculation all off-season that a sweeper could help neutralize lefties given his reverse splits.
@SHbarman@pgammo Not to mention arguably the best defender in the game. If he can even put up a league average bat (100 wRC+), Walls is easily a 4+ WAR player.
@Arunhammer @Mat_Germain_ Probably could have if 3 of the Rays best hitters didn't miss most of the season and an entire rookie class fell flat on their face. When healthy, the Rays rank as a top 10 offense year after year, including 2nd overall in 2021.
@Mat_Germain_ Come on Mat, don't fall down the rabbit hole. This offseason has been weird. All the top FA are signing and very few trades have happened. The Rays feast on trades and lower tier signings, which have yet to materialize.
