@TonyForLP Ed Clark predates this by many years with the phrase "Low Tax Liberalism". It wasn't well received (by Libertarians), IIRC. But neither was Johnson's version of it either. Harry B. specifically said "We are not fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Nor some variant."

@carynannharlos The only reason this is even an issue is the GOP abandoned Conservatism for it's more cultural counterpart. Part of why the LP was founded.

@carynannharlos Notice how you conflate the two. *Culturally* conservative vs. classically liberal. The LP has always been economically/politically conservative (as in small gov/low spending) and this has been a factor in its growth since the beginning. It's misleading.
