@KarimAttal45765@JamesSurowiecki Iran complained that they couldn't fly to LA 2 days before their match in order to have an extra day to adjust. This is also common and it was disruptive of DHS to say no imo. They did agree to -2 day arrival ahead of the match in Seattle- what they shld have approved previously
@KarimAttal45765@JamesSurowiecki That's not true: the teams have set up Home bases in one city but played matches in 2-3 locations during the group phase. So they are flying in and out for games. Iran's original planned home base was Tuscon so they would have flown for every match even if the war never happened
@TaylorTwellman 40 Teams is a better number. 8 groups of 5 teams play each other. The group winners go directly to the Final 16 while the 2nd/3rd place teams have to play-off for a spot.
Almost as many matches as the current format but fewer bad teams.
@Polit_eurOpines Magneto's villainy comes from his violent methods, not his mutant advocacy or his view that the mutants deserve a free homeland (Genosha).
Claremont found inspiration in history of M. Begin's terroristic methods for national liberation & later transition into Nobel peace winner
@JohannVonMeyer@carto_graph The CA HSR initial operating segment is 275km for a projected $37 Billion, opening in 2032. So that's ~$134.5 million per km.
Somehow makes HS2 look even worse ๐ญ
@lilbuddymax The images are both AI-generated (though likely from a real photo inspiration). In the top image, there is a billboard in the middle of the road near the bottom of the image. And a nonsensical stoplight in the roadway median.
@erharuspex@GovKathyHochul@POTUS Please read this letter from President FDR to a public sector union org explaining why collective bargaining and strikes should be for private sector unions only:

@terrybythebay@mehdirhasan The Germans didn't keep their land. German civilans were ethnically cleansed in the millions: they fled or were marched out of Silesia at gunpoint, for ex. After starting a war, committing atrocities, and then losing the war. Similar to their Arab allies:

@JonathanChames@NewsWire_US The train is profitable. Revenue and ridership are up. The problem is they have the heavy debt of the Orlando extension weighing down their finances.
@ProfDBernstein It's a sort of political essentialism argument that depends on thinking of politics as two-dimensional (left/right). Matt knows why a populist iconoclastic white guy might admire traditional fascism. Even (especially?) one who hates the Democratic party and usually voted GOP...
@LoganDobson This is misleading. The county is full of traditional data centers which use much less power. AI Warehouses currently represent only about 15โ20% of the physical buildings in Loudoun but account for nearly 60% of the county's total data center power draw. Source: Gemini ๐
@LinkofSunshine The term "data centers" is now confusing more than illuminating.
NoVa has a lot of traditional data storage, cloud servers, etc. In 2019 a MAJORITY of Internet traffic globally passed thru Ashburn. Before that it was AOL hq. ๐
This isn't an "AI Warehouse" story -

@LinkofSunshine Even they've had a backlash. Last year the Loudoun board of Supervisors changed their zoning to eliminate by-right data centers countywide. They were already banned from most of the rural area, but new AI factories will now need special exceptions to get built anywhere.
