Today our conservator starts work on a fan from @Sk_Regt_Museum. This extraordinary article was carried by Arthur Challess, a Far East POW between the years 1942 & 1945. Inscriptions made by Challess during captivity decorate the pleated leaf.

We'll be documenting the complex task of conserving this unique artefact & uploading a special feature to our website soon.

Observations made by Challess on particular dates, such as 'Hell Train' & 'killing work' evoke the horrors endured by POWs during WWII.
